well after reading some replies. i came to the conclusion that no matter what? our love for jesus is as follows. (one) he is still the master and father of all things past and present. (two) he is still the holder of all information. (three) no matter what he want us to keep our head to the sky.(four)regardless of the betrayal of judas, he played a big part of jesus forgivement of our sins. you jesus knew what was going to happen to him. judus had to be active. if not then propheshy would’nt have come true. you see did’nt nothing happen that was’nt already written in the book of life. jesus had to go with the flow.(smile) plus do you all think that jesus want us to hate judas? no! because forgiving is not forgetting. it just not reliving it all over again.you see the bible want us to learn from other people mistakes, and all of the suffering and hardships are done in jesus eyes, because that is why he went thru them. he could have waited until you were born and decided to be curcified, then maybe you could’ve been judas, or simeon, peter. thank GOD that he did it then. just think of the load that was on judas head also. who is not to say that you won’t do the same thing. it is people today that is in prison for sacrificing their so called best friend. there are people today that will strip and give up their body with a gun pointed at their head. no! it is not over! just live in god house and say PEACE BE STILL and you will feel the love of jeus your father,s son, and the holy spirit touch you i pray in the name of the holy spirit. love abounds. friend!

I cannot comment on what I do not know; The scrolls of Judas. If the comment: he knew Jesus more or understood him more than the others.? Well then why did he kill himself?
The scripture says Satan entered him. Luke 22:3
Satan does have a great part in all of the plan of God.
I do however believe Judas had a very real relationship with Jesus, but maybe because he was so educated he thought he was above the others in understanding. Judsa betrayed Jesus. Same as lied to me.
Many understand with their reason, but God requires us to understand in spirit and TRUTH. SO like Pilate stated: What is TRUTH?

We all work for our own securities and pleasures, all changes when we have children, their safety now becomes our priority, their future is now our concern, we began to make sacrifices for their future, we find our priority is now their happiness.
If our sacrifice is the soul principle of another’s prosperity and not our own, then I believe it is that sacrifice that is accepted by God.
Jesus did not go to the cross for his reward, but for ours. He showed the Love of the Father.
The Father knows the heart of Judas as well as each and everyone of us. God is the Judge.
It seems to me if Judas wrote, it would be from reason and not Holy Spirit. I see much fear in his final act. Most opposite Christ’s.

The Muslims recognise Jesus as a prophet, and Mary as the greatest womanto have lived, but how could Mohammed be guided by the Angel Gabriel to write that there was no crucifixion ( they call it crucifiction ). Since Islam is now on a collision course with the Cross, even referring back to the Crusades, I am disturbed by this growing standoff. Are we to beleve that Islam is the work of the Devil?

He was with jesus 4 three yrs, they worked together , prayed together and shared a reputed status in the society with rest of the disciples.I think he looked more on fame and appreciation than jesus.That is why he couldnot repent after the betrayel.remember what Peter did.He couldnot understand the forgiving ability jesus have.he couldnot realize JESUS’s love towards deadly sinners.so he committed suicide.

as an older guy who has always been a catholic for life but who for sometimes in the past has been investigating into some religious stuff i was not so surprised about this new development. i still remember when jesus admonished peter or john when jesus was about to be arrested. for he says that the task of salvation of men will not be complete if he will not be crucified on the cross as it is the will of his father who sent him on earth to perfom this task for the salvation of his beloved people. much more so that he promised that he will not repeat the same during the rime of noah GOD loves us that he sent his only begotten son so i belive that Judas Iscariot is a true believer and follower of Jesus christ that he agreed to the plans that GOD and Jesus is asking of him just like the devil is here to tempt us which is not bad at all and i am not at all glorifying the works of the evil one but just stating for a fact that the devil has a role in the evolution of the human soul and spirit just like God permitted the devil to tempt and try the soul of JOB so in ending evil things or people are put in our midst to test if we trully are the servants of GOD else we join their ranks and do the job they were tasked to do but we should be steadfast in our belief that Jesus is GOD the son and he redeemed us from the clutches of the evil one and the promise that one day we will be with him is true. these are trying times we are in a period that our souls and spririts are being tried for a very noble and supernatural purpose

Who are we kidding here…how can any apostle of jesus write a gospel without the holy spirit..what makes judas special from the other apostles who could not even understand what jesus told them while he was with them…besides judas was not even among the apostles when the holy spirit came down on them so that they can be able to understand who jesus really was..as far as we know from the bible(from the other gospel writers) judas commited suicide when he realised what was going to happen to jesus..this so called gospel from judas would seem to undermine the work of the holy spirit…

Nothing can ever justify what end Judas sought. Maybe, in some truth, Judas was commisioned or ordained to betray Jesus to further push into realization God’s plan. But I am sure it was not God’s plan for Judas to take his life by hanging himself on a tree. This was cowardice. The Master took the road to crucifixion. Judas took the easiest road. Peter wept bitterly, after denying his Master. All of the disciples did Jesus a dis-service by hiding, and leaving only John to take care of His mother, Mary. I 100% does not agree with the gospel of Judas at all. Although we don’t have the right to judge Judas we have certain things that we can learn from what he did. I personally pity him very much.
The bible is the Word of God and its complete as it is nothing must be added and nothing must be taken. If you read the bible from the very beggining of the Old Testament to the new Testament you will discover that when Jesus birth -Ressurection was anounced He was known as either Immanuel or Jesus and so on, but when it comes to Judas no name was mentioned at all so, betraying Jesus was open to anyone it could have been even Peter or John or whoever, each one of us are created with a Will so its up to you either to use it according to God’s will or Enemy’s will, all is left up to you.God can tell you that this is wrong and this is right but he can not force you to choose.God says:I lay before you life and death…. but i will advice you to choose life… so Judas himself chose death eternally.Judas was not destined to perish or betray Jesus that was not his purpose at all the bible tells us that his desire is for all of us to repent and live with him oneday,Jesus was sent to die for all of us, Judas even after betraying Jesus had a chance to live and repent as Peter did after betraying Jesus.So the ball is left in our hands, obviously,Judas chose to be used by the devil, but he had the power to choose otherwise.You can also choose today either to go to heaven or hell just as i said its up to you to choose but if you choose the right way which is Jesus then he will empower you to live for Him.

This Gnostic (Gospel) isnt good news. The Church has known of it all along and in its wisdom discounted it. The teaching of the Church regarding predestination is difficult to understand, but Judas acted from free will, and ass such is responsible for his act. The true Gospel states that Jesus said ‘ better for that man that he had never been born’, We are not judge and jury, but it would seem that Judas only hope of redemption was to ask forgiveness from God, but chose suicide instead.

dear jill reading all the comments here and my own created quie a stir about the gospel of judas. for my own belief i accept christ lord jesus as my savior amy friend my father my god and all that there is but…. we should not close our minds in the story behind a person or the writer himslef judas as to what happened a long time ago. my question now is without judas betraying jesus will he be arrested by roman soldiers will he be recognized during those times that intelligence gathering is still taboo??? even peter who had been with jesus was not recognized and he denied he was with jesus. there are many gospels in the world today like the aquarian gospel but people should have an open mind and just read it as like a novel and do not necessarily believe it for what we should believe is that god created the world the people all things that are living in this world for a purpose not necessarily predestined but he gave us free will and he will and cannot meddle in our free will and in this context we all agree either catholics or christians and other religious sexts that there is a god and that god for christian sent his begotten son to earth to teach people to love each other not to covet love our enemies aid each other and many more for a purpose of being perfect and in time going back to our creator.. the gospel of judas is not meant to make him accepted as a hero i think but to study the real story behind the redemption of people from eternal damnation by being the one as an instrument to make sure that the plan of salvation will not be derailed if the gospel of judas is really true and authentic does it matter now if we view him as the villain or not our belief in our lord jesus as our saviour and our god cannot be altered.

is news to ME, can anyone shed further light on this.
Lots has been discused on Judas and betrayal - has anyone considered what this betrayal was?
Wasn’t Jesus, a well know figure back then, So why had he to be pointed out to the Soldiers who came to arrest him? How was it that Judas betrayed Jesus with a Kiss?
My understanding of this, and I am open to your comments is as hereunder:
Judas, like all Jews, including the Apostles were awaiting Jesus to take control of the situation, and take his place as King of the Jews, here on earth. But in the years of following Jesus, he found Jesus doing only good works, talking in parables, and explaining in details only to his disciple.
The Pharisees and others, wanted Jesus dead, but they just could not kill him, and to punish him they needed atleast two witnesses.
Judas who must have been aware of this, must have thought that he would force the hand of Jesus, if he was arrested as a criminal, maybe Jesus would show his power and come into his own. He therefore, must have been the first witness, who went up to the Pharisees, with some of Jesus sayings, which would appear blasphemous to the Jews. This was enough of an opportunity for the Jews to arrest Jesus, and put him on trial. The Jews, must have expected Judas to continue with this betrayal, and come up as their Prime witness at the trial.
But when Judas told the Jews, that Jesus was a blasphemor, Jesus was not present there. Since this accusations would have to be done publicly, Judas agreed to kiss Jesus, to identify Jesus, as the person about whom he had witnessed.
Judas’s plans failed, because Jesus did not do what Judas had envisaged, he, therefore, went to the High Priest, to undo the wrong, but the harm was done. Judas ofcourse compounded this, by committing suicide.
The above is my understanding of the whole episode, when I look at it this way, I do not have to hate Judas, Nor do I hate the Jews, Pilate or anyone responsible - RESPONSIBLE, what rubbish, I am responsible for the death and suffering of my Lord.

I agree with Salvador Fernandes’ comment. For sure we can’t lay the burden to Judas, Jews,Pilate or anyone responsible for the death and suffering of our Lord. In my own opinion we are all responsible in one way or another. Judas did whatever he did for the fulfilment of the Scripture. He was a man blinded by the devil, dominated by the devil and inwardly controlled and motivated by him,so that he could not see the truth.Judas walked with Jesus but never comprehended the amazing truth he preached, thus giving himself to the power of darkness. Let’s forget the notion of the gospel of Judas and allow the truth from the Scripture to set us free. GOD BLESS.

I agree with both Salvador’s and Bak2Dfurure’s replies. Salvador’s insight on Judas is very insightful and quite possible. Lets not forget that Gnosticism was considered a form of paganism by believers back then and that is what this new gospel of Judas is, a Gnostic book. On the other hand, although I don’t know either were Bak2D future got his “books on the table” idea his assertions about Constantine and Rome are historicaly correct.
